Another post about Cirqular People, meet Camilla - PR Guru, sustainability enthusiast and one of our biggest style idols. A few years ago Camilla chose to leave the business world of fast fashion by stepping down from the PR agency she once started in 2006; Modin Åkerlind. Today she runs her own agency, MODIN, a PR- and communications agency with a focus on premium brands, art and sustainability. We asked Camilla some questions about her thoughts on circular fashion:
What is the primary reason for you to buy sustainable fashion?
"It is not viable to buy anything that is not sustainable fashion and by that I mean fast-fashion (even though it might be labeled as sustainable), anything that you won’t wear many times and for many years and anything that is not ethically produced. I try to live my life as sustainable as I possibly can in every aspect of my life. This is the second year in a row that I have chosen not to fly on holidays, I don’t own a car, I am a vegan/vegetarian. I am conscious in my consumption." Camilla explains.
What is unique about Modin Communication?
"The most unique thing is that we don’t work with fast fashion, that we don’t let money and growth steer our decisions. At MODIN, respect for Mother Earth and human rights come before profit." Camilla tells us.
Goosebumps! MODIN upholds their values by following a 14 point sustainability manifest that includes declining clients who don't work in sustainable ways.
Your 3 top-picks from Cirqular?
Camilla describes her style as timeless Parisienne chic. Here are her favorite picks;
This Brunello Cucinelli cardigan has a very smooth and nice touch to it. It is slightly see through as it has a light colour and is knitted, but that is part of its beautiful design.
What a catch! This headband gives you the right amount of warmth by just protecting the ears at the same time as it is very stylish.
A beautiful strapless silhouette with a crisp black, white and bold green floral pattern, Carolina Herrera's midi dress is a timeless classic. Cut from 100% silk and contains a supportive boning through the fitted bodice, so it stays perfectly in place.
Your 3 favorite pieces you're selling with Cirqular?
These shorts are cool and edgy. They are slightly different from other shorts with their manchester material which only makes them more unique and cool. The shorts do however have a few white stains and are slightly washed out.
Spice up your outfit with the sexy black bodysuit from Calvin Klein. The body has one missing button at the closure.
This checkered skirt is very trendy right now. The pattern and the style is timeless and with summer around the corner this is the perfect garment to buy. The skirt has a small stain and a missing size label but will probably fit a size medium.
Best memory with a piece you're selling with Cirqular?
"I bought the Burberry skirt in a vintage shop in in Soho i New York when I moved there in 1998 and have so many happy memories wearing that skirt. Mostly happy party memories since I went out a lot back then. Not anymore… The thing is that that skirt can be worn with anything (sneakers and heels, bare legs or with tights, with a big chunky knitted sweater or a black little summer top, or white t-shirt) and during any time of the day and every season of the year." Camilla explains, we say; what a must-have!
